A CEU is a Continuing Education Unit. “The primary purpose of the CEU is to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences.” (IACET, What is a CEU?, n.d.) The Micro-credentials for Professional Learning at Loyola University Maryland follows the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) standards to award Continuing Education Units for certain professional learning. As per the IACET standards, “One IACET Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.” (IACET, What is a CEU?, n.d.). Through Loyola’s accreditation through Middle States, our compliance to the IACET standards and our partnership with the Edcamp Foundation, we are able to award CEUs to participants of Edcamp Foundation approved Edcamps.
