International Business Curriculum

In addition to the required Liberal Arts Core and the Business Foundations required courses, students in the International Business major will complete the following five (5) required courses:

  • IB 282 Global Environment of Business; 
  • EC 304 Survey of International Economics or EC 348 Development Economics; 
  • IB/MG 315 International Management; 
  • MG 402 Strategic Management; and
  • MG 407 Management Consulting Practicum


Students are also required to choose three (3) IB required electives which includes courses from various disciplines including international business, economics, finance, business law, political science, global supply chain, information technology, and sustainability.  

Experiential Requirement

Students complete one from the below list. Note: International students are exempt from this requirement.

IB students complete an experiential requirement which is designed to support students engage in practical, hand-on, immersive learning. This requirement can be fulfilled in a number of ways, including:

  • IB 499 Internship for Credit (internship can be domestic or international)
  • Internship (not for credit) related to IB (internship can be domestic or international)
  • Study Abroad Program
  • Short-term Study Abroad Program
  • A Loyola language course beyond the required 104 level
  • A Loyola service-learning course related to IB
  • A Loyola immersion experience that relates to IB
  • An alternative IB experience as agreed upon by the Chair of the Management and International Business department and the student
