Sellinger professors discuss current business events in the media: January-February 2016

Sellinger faculty regularly serve as experts in the media, sharing their knowledge on a range of business topics. Below are selected highlights from January and February 2016.

January 2016

• Karyl Leggio, Ph.D., professor of finance, spoke to the Baltimore Sun on how market turmoil has had a mixed effect on Baltimore companies.
• Dr. Leggio was also interviewed by The Daily Record for stories discussing McCormick as well as Under Armour’s market share.
• Lastly, Dr. Leggio was also quoted in a Sun front page story and Baltimore Business Journal cover story on recent Legg Mason acquisitions.
• Michael Runnels, J.D., associate professor of law and social responsibility, was quoted for a Daily Record article examining Sagamore Development Co.’s Port Covington project.

February 2016

Lisa Yeo, Ph.D., assistant professor of information systems, specializes in business information systems, security and privacy, and organizational behaviors. She served as an expert source to media outlets covering current events cyber security events, particularly the privacy versus security debate between Apple and the FBI:

• ABC2’s In Focus news show in Baltimore talked with Lisa about Apple iPhone security.
• Lisa was an expert guest on Knowledge@Wharton on Wharton Business Radio broadcast on SiriusXM.
• WBAL-TV 11 News in Baltimore interviewed Lisa about the increasing danger of ransomware.

Other Sellinger faculty and students making February appears in the media included:

• Mark Johnson, Ph.D., assistant professor of finance, wrote an article about the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hike for The Business Monthly.
• The Business Monthly also talked with Roger Kashlak, Ph.D., professor of international business, about exploring international markets and featured a new business co-founded by Sellinger Executive MBA student Christian Dean.
