Marketing professor Gerard Athaide added to Fulbright Specialist Roster

Gerard Athaide, Ph.D., professor of marketing and department chair at Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management, was added to the Fulbright Specialist Roster with the State Department’s Fulbright Specialist Program. Gerald Athaide 

The Fulbright Specialist Program sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development and research, institutional planning and related subjects at academic institutions abroad. Specialists, who represent a wide range of professional and academic disciplines, are competitively selected to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster based on their knowledge, skill sets, and ability to make a significant contribution to projects overseas. Those individuals that have been approved to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster are then eligible to be matched with approved projects designed by foreign host institutions from more than 150 countries and other areas. If matched or selected, Dr. Athaide hopes to work with a university that wants to develop its educational capabilities in innovation management.

Athaide’s teaching, research and consulting focus on innovation management and new product development. He has taught courses on innovation and product development in the undergraduate, graduate and MBA programs at Sellinger. In addition, he has taught courses in Chile, India and New Zealand and leads Sellinger graduate students on international marketing study tours of Chile.

Athaide has published articles on innovation with a focus on the commercialization of technology-based innovations and the determinants of effective brand names for new products. In 2012, he was rated as one of the world’s top 25 innovation management scholars by The Journal of Product Innovation Management.
