Dean Kathleen Getz Named Among Top 100 Women

Kathleen A. Getz, dean of Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management, was named among The Daily Record’s Top 100 Women. The award recognizes high-achieving Maryland women for their leadership, community service and mentoring. Winners are selected by past Top 100 Women and business leaders.

Getz has more than 27 years of experience in business education. As dean of Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business, Getz seeks to teach business as a positive force in society. Her vision for the school combines leadership education, a global understanding of business, and Jesuit values to create thriving organizations and sustainable communities.

Prior to joining Sellinger, Getz served as the dean of the Michael R. Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago from 2011 through 2014. Previously, she served at American University’s Kogod School of Business from 1991 to 2011, including as senior associate dean for academic affairs from 2006 to 2011. Getz began at American University as an assistant professor of management, earned tenure and was promoted to associate professor of management in 1997 and chaired the department of management from 1999 to 2002.

Among her community service activities, Getz serves on the board of directors for the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, which works to advance business and economic development in the region. She also sits on the boards of directors for the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools and Junior Achievement of Central Maryland and serves with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

She is former associate editor for the journal Business & Society and past president of the International Association for Business and Society. She held an Aspen fellowship in 2000 and was elected as a fellow of the International Association for Business and Society in 2006.

Getz earned her doctorate in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh, her MBA from Gannon University and her bachelor’s degree in human development from Pennsylvania State University.
