Transfer Application Requirements
International Transfer Students are subject to different requirements for international transfer admission.
Common Application
The Common App has a specific application for transfer students, which is different from the regular first-year application.
$60 Application Fee
You will be prompted to pay the $60 application fee at the end of the Common App when you go to submit.

Transfer Student Conduct Form(s)
The Transfer Student Conduct Form is our way of verifying that you are in good academic and disciplinary standing at all colleges or universities you previously attended. We require a completed Transfer Student Conduct Form from each of the colleges you have attended after graduating from high school.
- Step 1: Complete the Applicant Information section at the top of the form and sign
- Step 2: Send the form with your signature to an official at your school(s) who has access to your academic and disciplinary history (e.g. the Registrar’s Office, the Student Conduct Office, or Dean of Students). They will need to sign and complete the bottom portion of the form.
- Step 3: The completed form must be sent directly from the college to the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Loyola University Maryland. We cannot accept Transfer Student Conduct Forms directly from applicants. The form can be submitted by email to transferadmission@loyola.edu.
Official High School Transcript (or equivalent)
Loyola requires an official final high school transcript (or equivalent, such as GED certificate) to verify completion of a U.S. high school diploma. Please reach out to your high school directly via phone or email and request that the counseling or registrar’s office send your transcript directly to Loyola, preferably via email to transferadmission@loyola.edu. If electronic delivery is not available, transcripts may be sent by paper mail. We cannot accept documents from the applicant as "official"; they must be sent directly from the school.
Official College Transcript(s)
Official transcripts are required from all colleges or universities you currently or previously attended after the completion of high school. You can typically request these online through your college's registrar or records office. Most colleges will send these documents to Loyola electronically via a service such as Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse. Some colleges may charge you a small fee. We cannot accept documents from the applicant as "official"; they must be sent directly through the college/university.
If you completed courses through a dual enrollment program in high school, please request these transcripts to be sent to Loyola so we can evaluate them for transfer credit.

How do my credits transfer over?
Transfer Credit Evaluation
Due to demand, we are unable provide preliminary credit evaluations prior to completing the application process.
An evaluation of transfer credit is completed for each applicant as part of the review process. A detailed, personalized, course-by-course credit evaluation will be included with your offer of admission. A maximum of 60 credit hours may be transferred towards the completion of an undergraduate degree at Loyola. Graduate on time with the Seamless Transfer Program for Maryland community college students
Seamless Transfer Program
Our Seamless Transfer Pathway saves local Maryland community college graduates time in completing their degree. Students who earn an A.A. (Associate of Arts) or A.S. (Associate of Science) degree* in the state of Maryland will be waived out of most Loyola core requirements** as an incoming transfer. This pathway allows local students to stay on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 4 years total!
Community college graduates from outside of Maryland do not qualify for Seamless Transfer, however, Loyola accepts most credits from 2- and 4-year institutions. Read more about our credit evaluation process on our Academic Advising website.
*Other forms of associate's degrees, such as Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Associate of Applied Technology (AAT) or other occupational associate's degrees earned from a Maryland community college may be considered for seamless transfer on a case-by-case basis.
**Students will be considered as having fulfilled all Loyola core requirements, but will still be required to:
- Complete two courses that will fulfill Loyola's Theology and Philosophy Core requirements: one 200-level course in either Theology or Philosophy and one Ethics Core course in whichever of these departments the 200-level course is not completed. Any prerequisites for these courses will be waived.
- Complete the Loyola language requirements. Students must have taken at least two semesters of a college-level world language (e.g., Spanish 101 and 102). If a student has not met these requirements upon transfer, they will need to take two semesters of a world language at Loyola.
- Complete the Loyola diversity and justice requirement.

COVID-19 and Spring 2020 semester grades
In light of the potential impact of COVID-19 on academic coursework in the Spring 2020 semester, Loyola University Maryland has temporarily relaxed its transfer course policy. Passing grades from the Spring 2020 semester (e.g. “Pass,” “Satisfactory,” etc.) that are equivalent to a minimum letter grade of “C” or higher will be considered for transfer credit at Loyola.

Affordability and Financial Aid
Applicants are automatically considered for scholarships, which are awarded on a competitive basis to students with strong academic records. Additionally, applicants can apply for need-based financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will be used to determine eligibility for federal and institutional forms of aid.
Veterans are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through the Yellow Ribbon Program, and are eligible for several other veterans benefits.

A place to call home that feels like one, our residence halls are so much more than a place to hang your backpack. With a variety of apartment-style housing options to choose from, students have access to a full kitchen, comfortable common spaces for studying and spending time with friends, spacious bedrooms, and semi-private bathrooms.

My transition to Loyola was very smooth. The Transfer Transitions course was a great opportunity to meet other transfers and talk about our experiences. One of the other students that I met in that course and I interned together last summer, are interning at the same company this summer, and are still friends. It was a great way to meet people that have had some of the same unique college experience.

A key pillar of a Loyola education is the concept of cura personalis—developing the whole person. At Loyola, I’ve flourished in all parts of my life. I’m a member of the Pre-Health Society and have worked closely with my advisor to discover research and volunteer opportunities to support my application to medical school. I’m also involved with the Evergreens, a student leadership organization that has allowed me to grow as a person, while also being able to support Loyola’s incoming students.

Loyola allowed me to challenge myself academically and feel supported right from the start thanks to faculty members and my mentor. Aside from meeting my best friend, the Transfer Transitions Course helped me gain more knowledge about the resources on campus, alleviating any concerns I had when I first arrived at Loyola. I really enjoyed the guidance and support the course provided to students and the sense of community it fostered. I loved that it provided opportunities to build strong relationships with other transfer students.
