Lisa Oberbroeckling, Ph.D., associate professor of mathematics, hopes to provide leadership and guidance to Loyola students beyond her classroom. “I love that faculty can develop relationships with students at Loyola.” Dr. Oberbroeckling received her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon and began teaching at Loyola in 2002. She is a co-investigator on the NSF S-STEM grant that provides scholarships and mentoring through Loyola’s CPaMS Scholars Program. Dr. Oberbroeckling believes Loyola’s Jesuit values prepare STEM students in particular to take different career paths: “It’s a myth that your major leads you to one type of job,” says the Dubuque, Iowa native. “I think Loyola does an excellent job at making sure students receive a well-rounded education.”
