  • MajorsComputer Science and Data Science

Hannah is from Elkton, Md., and is double majoring in data science and computer science as a CPaMS Scholar. “I chose to pursue both data science and computer science because I have also always avidly loved programming. The moment a problem clicks in my mind, it can only be described as the best feeling in the world. I also love analyzing data that has an impact in real-world situations.” Hannah is involved with various clubs and organizations on campus, including Women In Technology, Loyola University Innovations Fellows, and Student Leadership Corps, and she serves as co-news editor for The Greyhound’s news section. Hannah’s favorite aspect of the CPaMS Scholars’ program is the connections she has built with her cohort and some of the projects she works on as part of her field of study. She says the CPaMS program is preparing for her life and work beyond Loyola through courses like Opportunities in STEM, which focus on career paths in her fields. During the summer, Hannah had an internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center researching the impact of COVID-19 on health care teams; their research is pending publication. After graduation, she plans to earn her master’s degree while pursuing a job in cybersecurity. “My favorite thing about Loyola, besides the beautiful campus, is the availability of professors and their consistent support. During my first year, I met Dr. Drummey, my calculus teacher, and he quickly became a mentor. His professional background in the DOD and NSA means he is a great resource for my love of cybersecurity. He is constantly helping me to succeed as a studentand in opportunities beyond Loyola.”

Loyola has many opportunities for students to flourish academically and socially. What I love is how our professors are consistently available outside of the classroom. Throughout my time so far, I have found support from the amazing teachers to develop connections and get the help I need in classes. My education has strengthened my leadership skills and is preparing me for my future career.
