If you enjoy problem solving, computer science may be the field for you. The Computer Science Department at Loyola University Maryland combines an up-to-date curriculum with state-of-the art facilities. Classes are small, and all classes are taught by departmental faculty. Our faculty enjoy the many opportunities for personal interaction with students. Each year several students collaborate with faculty members on research projects. The Hauber Fellowship Program supports selected students for on-campus research during summer months.

The B.S. in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Committee of ABET, http://www.abet.org/. Accreditation results from a visit by an accrediting team during which the curriculum and facilities are examined and faculty, students, and administrators are interviewed. Our curriculum, like all of computer science, is constantly being revised. Currently, Java is the primary language of instruction. The B.A. in Computer Science allows a student to more easily major or minor in an additional area of interest. Undergraduates in Computer Science have the option to study abroad.

Our program is well-respected in the greater Baltimore-Washington area, a technology employment center. Our graduates, with a high level of technical competence plus the oral and written communication and thinking skills that result from a vigorous Jesuit, liberal arts education, are sought by employers. Other graduates go on to successful graduate study, either in the Loyola Master of Science Program or at other universities.

We are proud of our program and facilities. Most of all, we are proud of our students and our faculty. Come visit—better yet, spend the day and attend classes. Simply contact the Admissions Office to arrange your visit.
