Art History Degree Information

Art history majors take three lower-division courses (AH110, AH111, and PT270 or SA224) and nine upper-division courses (200-level or above). Students must take one upper-division course in Classical or Medieval art, one in Renaissance or Baroque art, and one in art postdating the 18th century. Majors must take at least one course in non-Western art, but no more that two 200-level courses may count towards the major. Most majors also choose to study abroad.

Interdisciplinary art history majors take AH110, AH111, and five upper-division courses (200-level or above). Students must take one upper-division course in classical or medieval art, one in Renaissance or baroque art, and one in art postdating the 18th century. Students are strongly encouraged to take at least one course in non-Western art.

Art history minors take AH110, AH111, and four upper-division courses (200-level or above).

Art history courses fulfill requirements in a number of interdisciplinary minors including American Studies, Gender Studies, Medieval Studies, Catholic Studies, Italian Studies, Asian Studies and others.
