Undergraduate Programs

B.B.A. Program

At the undergraduate level, students may enroll as business administration majors and select the information systems concentration within their first two years of study. Students complete six (6) information systems courses beyond the business core. These include:

    • IS352 - Applications Development
    • IS353 - Data Management and Database Systems
    • IS355 - Networks and Security
    • IS358 - Business Intelligence
    • IS453 - Information Systems Analysis and Design
    • IS458 - Web-Enabled Applications

Many students also include an elective internship course to provide practical work experience or another information systems elective. Course sequencing is designed to fit into study abroad programs around the world in either the fall or spring semester.

Information Systems Minor

A minor in information systems is offered to all undergraduate students, including those in the business school. To complete the minor, students must complete three (3) information systems courses beyond the business core. These include:

    • IS353 - Data Management and Database Systems
    • IS453 - Information Systems Analysis and Design

And one elective chosen from:

    • IS352 - Applications Development
    • IS355 - Networks and Security
    • IS356 - IT for Financial Services
    • IS358 - Business Intelligence
    • OM334 - Global Supply Chain Management

SAS Business Intelligence Certificate

Loyola offers a Business Intelligence Certificate, which is certified by SAS. This certification from the industry leader in business intelligence software provides students with a comptetive advantage in applying for jobs in which data mining and business intelligence are an integral part. To obtain the certification, a student must complete the following four courses with a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better:

    • EC220 - Business Statistics
    • IS251 - Information Systems
    • IS353 - Data Management and Database Systems
    • IS358 - Business Intelligence
