Thank you so much for your interest in being involved with The Center for Innovation in Urban Education (CIUE) at Loyola University Maryland. We intend for the CIUE to be community-engaged and community-informed, in service of Baltimore City residents, its schools, and communities, and other urban communities. To actualize our intentions, we need community members to advise us on the areas and issues in which our work and advocacy can be most useful. This is where the Community Advisory Board comes in.
This is the inaugural year of the CIUE’s Community Advisory Board. The Community Advisory Board will have the following goals:
- Provide support and guidance for the innovative initiatives undertaken by the CIUE;
- Serve as a forum for CIUE stakeholders and partners to communicate their needs, opinions, expertise, and coordinate services where appropriate;
- Assist the CIUE in the implementation of its initiatives; and
- Help establish the CIUE’s presence throughout Baltimore.
We are asking members of the CIUE’s Community Advisory Board to make a one-year commitment (for the calendar year of 2017) in this service position. There is no financial obligation for Community Advisory Board’s members, but meeting presence and active participation are essential for the board to work well and for the CIUE to work effectively.
Please complete the application below. Applications are due on October 17, 2016, by 5 p.m. We will review the applications and send out confirmations of board participation by December 1, 2016. Our first meeting with the Community Advisory Board will be on Monday, January 9, 2017, at 6 p.m. The meeting location information will be included with the confirmation.
