Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling Procedures

image divider

The process for completing entrance counseling and an electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) is simple. You must have your Department of Education-issued PIN to begin the process. If you do not have a PIN, or have lost your PIN, please visit the official Federal PIN website at www.pin.ed.gov.

First time borrowers must complete an electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) and complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. If you have previously borrowed through the Federal Direct Stafford Loan Program, it is not necessary to complete this process again.

To complete your Electronic Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling go to www.StudentLoans.gov.

Upon receipt of confirmation that you have completed the Federal Direct Loan MPN and the Entrance Counseling requirement, your loan action status will be changed to Accepted.  Once your loans are at an Accepted status, funds will be credited to your student account no sooner than 10 days prior to the semester start date.
