Rock climbing is a sport that challenges both the body and mind. The climbing wall offers climbing routes from beginner to advanced skill levels as well as a bouldering cave for unroped climbing.
New to climbing? Tired of standing in line for a belay? Attend a belay class or one of our workshops to learn about Loyola's wall, the sport of climbing, and to become belay certified. Classes and workshops are offered throughout the semester. Look for the interest list on the climbing wall's desk or contact the Outdoor Adventure Center.
Loyola's annual climbing competition is hosted each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. All profits benefit a local, Baltimore nonprofit. Registration typically begins the 1st of November and continues through the day of the event. Stay updated on current events on The Ascent's Facebook page.
The Ascent is part of the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Climbing Series. Other schools in the series include Johns Hopkins Univeristy, University of Maryland, Towson University, Gettysburg College, York College of Pennsylvania, and St. Mary's College of Maryland.
