Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology
Application Deadline - February 1, 2017
Loyola University participates in the Communication Sciences & Disorders Central Application Service, known as the CSDCAS application.
In order to be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program, the materials noted below must be completed and submitted to CSDCAS by February 1, 2017. Once they are verified by CSDCAS, they will be reviewed by Loyola's admission committee. Please note that documents may take up to 4 weeks for verification. Please note that it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that a completed application and all materials are received by the application deadline (2/1).

In addition to the electronic CSDCAS application, applicants must submit the following materials directly to CSDCAS.
- Personal Essay. A personal statement of interest must be submitted specifically addressing why you wish to enroll in Loyola University Maryland’s graduate program in speech-language pathology.
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended. Please note that fall grades are required.
- Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test scores. Report must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to CSDCAS. Scores must be from tests administered within five years of the application deadline. Loyola's CSDCAS institution code is 1215.
- Three academic/professional letters of recommendation. Three letters of recommendation are required and only the first three received will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Please only submit letters from faculty, supervisors, and other professionals who are able to discuss your ability to succeed in a graduate program in speech-language pathology, including academic and personal characteristics that may contribute to your achievement.
- Prerequisite Course Information Form. This form is required for students who have not completed an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology or communication science disorders. Only prospective students who include a completed Prerequisite Course Information Form will be considered for admission.
In addition to the documents above, the following documents are also required if applicable.
- TOEFL score report. The TOEFL examination is required only if English is not the applicant's native language or if the applicant has not completed a degree program taught in English. TOEFL scores must be from tests administered within two years of the application deadline. Official scores must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service. - International Student Supplemental Forms (required only if a student visa is needed). (sent to Loyola)
- Applicants who hold degrees from non-US institutions must submit a course by course evaluation and translation. We recommend:World Education Services, Inc (WES). www.wes.org (sent to CSDCAS)

Additional Application Information
It is the policy of departmental admission committees to give promising applicants the opportunity to undertake graduate work. A careful examination of an applicant's academic qualifications (and professional background, if applicable) precedes every admission decision. The Speech-Language Pathology Admission Committee looks for previous academic achievement by considering an applicant's undergraduate and graduate records, combined with the results of the Graduate Record Examination. Academic and/or professional references and the application essay are also given significant weight in making the decision.
Applicants accepted for graduate study will be advised via email. At the time of admission, individuals will be informed of additional courses or prerequisites requiring completion before commencing their graduate studies. Those who choose to accept the admission offer are expected to submit an enrollment deposit to secure a position in the program. This deposit is applied toward the first semester's tuition. An orientation for Speech-Language Pathology graduate students is typically scheduled for late August.
Additionally, admittance to the Master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology is contingent upon passing a criminal background check. Each student accepted into the program will be required to obtain, pay for, and pass a criminal background check. These background checks are routinely required by the Loyola Clinical Centers, schools, hospitals and other agencies that participate in the clinical education of our students. Failure to pass a criminal background check may make you ineligible to complete requirements and result in revocation of your acceptance into the graduate program. Additional information regarding the criminal background check process will be included in your acceptance letter.
Once the deposit is made, students are required to present documentation indicting immunity to communicable diseases. Health history and immunization forms will be sent after acceptance notification.
