Application Procedures for Transfer Students

Merit-Based Scholarships

All students are eligible to receive merit-based scholarships, and every student who completes an application for admission is automatically considered for merit scholarship funding. No separate application is required, and you will be notified of your merit scholarship at the time of admission.

Need-Based Financial Aid

Spring Transfer Applicants

All Spring Admission applicants must complete the following by November 15 in order to receive their Financial Aid decision before the December 15 deposit deadline. Students who submit their FAFSA by the Nov.15 deadline will receive their need-based financial aid package within two business days of their admission decision.

How to Apply

Complete the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Complete the FAFSA online. You and your parent must have a FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.  Loyola University's FAFSA Code Number is 002078.

The best way to provide accurate income information on the FAFSA is by opting to use the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). This process allows eligible applicants and parents to automatically transfer 2021 tax return information from the IRS to your FAFSA. It assures accuracy, saves time, and minimizes processing delays. DRT also significantly reduces the chances of your FAFSA being selected for verification by the Department of Education (ED) or Loyola. Students will be notified by both ED and the financial aid office if/when we need additional documents. Learn more about federal verification.

Please visit the FAFSA website and indicate Loyola University Maryland as your school of choice using Federal School Code No. 002078. Should you need more time beyond the deposit deadline stated in your admit letter to make an informed decision after receiving your package, simply let us know.

FAFSA Corrections

For those who have already submitted the FAFSA but need to make corrections, the Department of Education has announced that applicants may now make updates to your FAFSA form. Please visit the FAFSA website to access your existing 2024-25 form to make these changes urgently, so we can finalize your financial aid package promptly.

Timing of Official Financial Aid Packages

We are committed to releasing financial aid packages as swiftly as possible to accepted students once we receive your updated FAFSA data. We will notify all students by email as soon as your FAFSA data from the Department of Education has been received and again when your official award is ready to view.

Flexible Enrollment Decision Support

Given the shortened timeframe from when aid packages will be available to your enrollment deposit deadline, Loyola is adopting a flexible stance. We will grant extensions to any student requiring more time to make an informed enrollment decision. You can make your enrollment deposit extension request here.

Support and Communication

Loyola is committed to providing support and clear communication throughout this process. Our financial aid office is closely monitoring developments and is prepared to offer guidance and assistance as needed. If you do not plan to complete the FAFSA, please inform us to adjust our records accordingly.
