Loyola's School of Education, dedicated in October 2009, offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in education. The School's priority focus is on tackling the trenchant challenges, dilemmas, and issues of urban education and urban schooling in America. The School's founding dean, Peter C. Murrell, Jr., Ph.D., joined Loyola in summer 2008. In addition to enhancing Loyola's current academic offerings, he has established several centers aimed at building collaboration with members of the local community and addressing the many challenges surrounding urban education.
