Raenita Fenner, Ph.D.
- Academic Focus Engineering
Raenita Fenner, Ph.D.—associate professor and chair of engineering, director of the African and African American Studies interdisciplinary minor, and faculty advisor of the Society for Women Engineers (SWE)—aims to educate the whole person and to teach her students to be lifelong learners. “Learning how to breakdown problems, troubleshoot, and consume new information to perform a task are skills which will last a lifetime,” she says. Dr. Fenner encourages students to use creativity, innovation, and collaborative efforts to solve the engineering challenges of the future; she will often also tailor her courses to the students in her class. Dr. Fenner earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Originally from Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Dr. Fenner joined Loyola’s faculty in 2010. Her scholarship and research are focused on applied electromagnetics. When she's not teaching, she loves to play tennis and says her favorite time of year is the fall semester: “It feels like a new beginning, and I enjoy meeting new students.”
