- Class of 2020
- Major, Minor Biology, Chemistry
Alyssa’s career ambitions include attending medical school and pursuing a Ph.D., so that she can practice medicine and conduct research. “My Loyola education has allowed me to understand religions, philosophies, and ethical perspectives of individuals around the world,” says the biology major who is minoring in chemistry. Alyssa enrolled in Pre-Health at Loyola for the numerous opportunities the program affords students interested in health care and medical professions—including shadowing physicians and conducting research at nationally-acclaimed institutions. She has been interested in science and the human body since she was 7 years old, and her passion for anatomy was reaffirmed when she conducted ten weeks of translational cancer research during the Nathan Schnaper Research Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore. Beyond her studies, Alyssa is a Loyola cheerleader as well as a member of the Dance Company, Student Leadership Corps, and the Pre-Health Club.

The professors and Pre-Health faculty are more than willing to help students reach their ultimate goal. They inspire and encourage us to apply for nationally-acclaimed programs that will impact our personal and academic paths. My Jesuit education has also taught me the value of service and leadership in my personal and my professional life.
