The following is an email that was sent to Loyola faculty, staff, and administrators on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Subject: University campuses to be closed to all but authorized personnel
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Administrators,
Earlier today, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced that all non-essential businesses, organizations, establishments, and facilities would be closed effective 5 p.m. today. At Loyola, beginning at 5 p.m. today and until further notice, our campuses will be closed to everyone except those who are designated as authorized personnel or who have permission from their supervisors to be on campus.
Many of you have already been working successfully remotely and should continue to do so. Those remaining staff and administrators who have been working on campus will receive information directly from their supervisors to let them know whether to report to campus or work remotely during this time. Faculty who need access to their offices and labs should contact their deans to make sure they have the access and support they need, all while practicing social distancing, of course.
I am most grateful to each of you for all you are doing to keep our university running and particularly to ensure that the exceptional education of our students can continue uninterrupted.
Please know that you and our community are in my daily prayers.
Rev. Brian F. Linnane, S.J.
