Cold Spring Road

Cold Spring Lane used to be a narrow, two-lane roadway. Its intersection with Charles Street was once guarded by a sound-actuated traffic light installed to accommodate the sparse traffic on Cold Spring Lane. Students, familiar with the system, could shout into the sound receptor and suddenly change a green light to red, forcing motorists to halt.
