Matthew Gibson is an Adjunct Professor of History at Loyola University Maryland. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also earned his M.A. He holds a B.A. in History from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. A global military historian by training, his areas of specialization include the British Empire, the modern Middle East, and twentieth-century global history. His teaching and research examine the dynamics of power, imperialism, and the complex relationships between empires and their subjects. Previously, he enjoyed teaching courses on ancient empires, empire and decolonization in the twentieth century, and the modern Middle East.
