Associate Director of Recreational Sports

Andy Black joined the Loyola University Maryland Department of Recreational Sports in August of 2013 as the Associate Director of Facilities and Risk Management after spending seven years as both Coordinator and Assistant Director of Facilities at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. In his position as Associate Director, Andy oversees all operations of Recreational Sports facilities including facility projects, risk management, scheduling and communication with several University partners including Facilities Department, Athletics, Campus Police, Environmental Health and Safety and Events Services. Provides oversite and staff supervision of the Building Supervisors and direct oversite to the Assistant Director of Business Services and Marketing, Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness and Assistant Director of Aquatics and Special Events.
Andy originates from Michigan and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors in Sport Administration and a minor in Business in 2004. Following graduation, he completed his Masters degree in Sport and Recreation Administration and Graduate Assistantship with the Department of Recreational Sports at Bowling Green State University.
In additional to his role as Assistant Director of Facilities at FIU, Andy was involved with various committees on campus including Student Conduct Faculty Representative, First Year Experience Instructor, Media Relations with Intercollegiate Athletics, Development of the Bike Shop and CPR programming, and was an advisor to several student associations. In his spare time Andy enjoys being outside running, biking and hiking, attending Orioles games, and competing in triathlons and marathons.
