Club Sports Athletic Trainer

The department of recreational sports is proud to continue our partnership with Medstar in offering an athletic trainer to our club sport student-athletes.

Curtis Wills MS, MS, LATC, NASM-CES is serving in his second year as an athletic trainer and a Physician Extender at Medstar NRH. Prior to this, Curtis worked for the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute (formerly Kernan Hospital) for six years. Some of his job duties consisted of the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation and treatment of sports injuries to Howard County High School athletes. In addition, Curtis served as a Physician Extender to various University of Maryland Orthopaedic physicians and a Well-Life coordinator for the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute’s Well-Life program.

Curtis attained a Master’s of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science from California University of Pennsylvania. Curtis served as a graduate assistant at Miami University (Ohio), while studying for a Master’s of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Studies. Curtis also graduated with a B.S. in Athletic Training from Quincy University in 2000.

Curtis is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed by the state of Maryland as a Certified Athletic Trainer. He is also certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Lastly, he is certified in CPR and AED usage through the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
