Where is The Social at North Charles?
The Social at North Charles (formerly known as The Guilford) is located within walking distance of the Loyola campus in a beautiful, dynamic community at 3900 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. The Social is surrounded by wonderful neighbors and right down the street from a Barnes & Noble, Chipotle, Cold Stone Creamery, Subway, and many other fantastic shops and restaurants!
What is the difference in the cost of living on campus and living at The Social at North Charles?
Living in The Social at North Charles will cost the same amount as living in an apartment on campus.
Will my financial aid cover living at The Social at North Charles?
Yes! Since the University has signed a master lease with The Social at North Charles, your financial aid package will be the same as if you were living on campus.
Will my roommates and I have to pay for utilities and internet?
No. You and your roommates will pay one flat fee, just as if you lived in a residence hall. Utilities, including internet, will be functioning when you move in. If you and your roommates want a television package, you will need to subscribe directly through a streaming provider, like YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, AT&T TV, Philo, etc.
I have a car. Will I be able to park at The Social at North Charles and on campus?
Yes! If you register a car, you can park at the Loyola Fitness and Aquatic Center as well as The Social at North Charles at the rate of $500 for the academic year. This is significantly less than the usual cost to park at The Social at North Charles.
Will there be Loyola transportation to The Social at North Charles?
There will be Loyola transportation to The Social at North Charles. More information will be shared in the future. The Loyola Escort will not be able to provide service to The Social at North Charles.
What does an apartment at The Social at North Charles look like?
We are offering a variety of apartments, ranging from 1-bedroom (2 person) apartments to 3-bedroom (6 person) apartments. See the floor plans. Each apartment also has a full-size kitchen including a dishwasher. Some apartments have washers and dryers, and the Loyola laundry fee will apply for those units.
What amenities are available at The Social at North Charles?
The Social at North Charles has amazing amenities including an elegant lobby, a study lounge with Wi-Fi, billiards and game tables, a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, a theater with a 96-inch projection screen, and a cozy library with a gorgeous fireplace. The community space continues outdoors with a sparkling rooftop pool, courtyard, grilling area, and gardening plots.
Safety is important to me. What safety measures can I expect at The Social at North Charles?
Each resident will be issued a key fob for entrance into The Social at North Charles and a brass key for entrance into their residence. The Social at North Charles also has a desk attendant available 24 hours a day for any questions or concerns from residents.
Will I have to bring my own furniture?
Loyola will provide furniture at no additional cost.
Do I have to leave my apartment during breaks like I do when I live on campus?
No! You are welcome to stay in your apartment for the full time of your contract and do not have to leave during University break periods. You will need to move out at the end of your Loyola housing contract.
Do I have to have a meal plan if I live at The Social at North Charles?
Students who are assigned to The Social who do not have a meal plan assigned to them will automatically be enrolled in the Senior Points plan and charged $820 per semester on your student account. All Social residents have the option to buy-up to a larger meal plan or opt out of the meal plan program. To change your meal plan please log into the RoomRez portal via InsideLoyola and click "Change Meal Plan" on the navigation bar. Please note, it may take up to 5 business days for your tuition bill to reflect your meal plan change.
What are the advantages to being a resident at The Social at North Charles through this special partnership with Loyola?
As a student in Loyola housing at The Social at North Charles, you enjoy all the amenities of The Social at North Charles, but without needing to pay a security deposit or sign and pay for a year-long lease. You can enjoy an apartment that is fully furnished. Utilities (excluding cable) are included in the Loyola housing fee. A Loyola staff member will be on site, prepared to assist and support students. And public safety will provide support to students in Loyola housing at The Social at North Charles.

Since The Social at North Charles is different from the traditional residence halls, do all Loyola rules and expectations still apply to me?
While The Social at North Charles is not a traditional residence hall, it is considered Loyola housing, so all the same rules and expectations do apply. All Loyola students whether on or off campus are expected to abide by the Community Standards and COVID-19 health and safety requirements/guidelines.
