HoundNet - Encrypted Wi-Fi
How do I access HoundNet?
Use your device's wireless application software to search for available wireless networks. This application differs with each manufacturer. Consult your specific documentation for assistance. Connect to the wireless network named "HoundNet." You will be asked to enter your Loyola username and password to finish the connection.
Loyola managed devices will automatically connect to the appropriate network. For personally owned devices, please connect to "HoundNet."
What is Clearpass?
If you are prompted to accept a clearpass security certificate when connecting to our wireless networks, please do so. This certificate helps keep our network safe and must be accepted to connect to the wireless. If the certificate does not automatically install on your computer you may need to install it from clearpass01.ad.loyola.edu. For more information, see our clearpass instructions.
How do I connect a gaming device?
If you have a gaming device such as an Xbox, PS4, or Switch, you should connect to the Wi-Fi please connect it to HoundNet_Gaming.
Where can I access HoundNet?
HoundNet is accessible from any campus location including the Timonium and Columbia graduate centers, the Loyola Clinical Center, and the Loyola/Notre Dame Library.
How fast is HoundNet?
Depending on your hardware, Loyola's wireless technology can operate at speeds up to 1.3Gbps and provides an online experience faster to that of traditional wired networks.
Can I still connect to the traditional wired network?
Wired connections are available upon request in the Residence halls for non-WiFi capable devices. Please note a maximum of one connection per room can be activated. Desktop computers are recommended to use an external USB Wifi adapter (example here). Students who wish for more than one connection can utilize an unmanaged network switch (example here) that will allow multiple devices to connect to a single jack.
What do I need to connect to HoundNet?
A Wi-Fi capable device supporting either 802.11n or 802.11ac.
When do I connect to HoundNet_Guest?
HoundNet_Guest is an unencrypted open network. This network is for wifi devices that don't support WPA2-Enterprise, such as Smart TVs, Roku devices, some gaming devices, etc. This network also provides access to guests visiting Loyola.
Eduroam is a worldwide federated network access service which allows members to use each other’s secure wireless networks by logging in with their home institution’s email address and password. Eduroam is available to members of the Loyola community traveling to other participating institutions, and to visitors to Loyola from other universities.
Traditional network access is available in offices and throughout certain areas of the campus.
