Family Weekend 2023 Schedule

Friday, October 6

Sukkah on the Quad

Quad: All Week
The Loyola community celebrated the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot Sept. 29 – Oct. 6. Sukkot commemorates the time God provided food and shelter for Israelites in the wilderness that they inhabited, after they were freed from slavery in Egypt.

The event of Sukkot is celebrated with symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey and harvest vegetables. A big part of the Sukkot celebration is to build temporary shelters to remind one of God’s eternal presence in our lives.

This year, Loyola’s Office of Campus Ministry supported building of Sukkah on campus and celebrate the holiday of Sukkot with our Jewish friends. Please visit Sukkah on the Quad and explore educational materials posted in the lawn.
