The Innovation Task Force was established by Fr. Linanne to develop initiatives and practices that—through disruptive innovation—generate new opportunities that will lead to the strengthening of Loyola University Maryland, aligned with the new Strategic Plan. Initiatives will promote innovation and follow entrepreneurial characteristics to boldly seek solutions to the myriad of challenges not only facing Loyola, but higher education in general.
The Task Force is chaired by Joshua Smith, Dean of Loyola's School of Education, and includes representatives from across the University. Recent accomplishments include designing the structure, initial processes, and job descriptions for the new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The IDEA Space at the Loyola Notre Dame Library was established and has hosted a number of workshops, design thinking sessions, conversations (such as “Meet an Entrepreneur”) with local and nationally-recognized leaders. A number of Loyola classes have also experimented with using the space. Lastly, an Innovation Accelerator was developed and has issued a Call for Innovation Proposals to consider funding and logistical support for ideas that seek to move Loyola and our Baltimore community forward through innovation.
