U.S. News & World Report ranks Loyola among top universities in North region
Loyola University Maryland is No. 4 among the best universities in the North region in the U.S. News & World Report's “Best Colleges” guide for 2021. Loyola has been ranked in the top five for more than a decade.
In addition, Loyola is ranked:
- No. 4 (tied) for “Best Undergraduate Teaching”
- No. 9 (tied) for “Most Innovative Schools”
- No. 16 (tied) for “Service Learning”
- No. 44 for “Best Value”
- No. 60 (tied) for “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs”
- No. 116 (tied) for “Best Undergraduate Business Programs”
- No. 160 (tied) for “Top performers on Social Mobility”
- No. 171 (tied) for “Best Undergraduate Computer Programs”
Loyola was also listed among the A+ Schools for B Students.

This year U.S. News analyzed 1,452 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality including retention and graduation rates, class sizes, student/faculty ratios, and average federal loan debt of graduates. The indicators were assigned a weight or grade based on U.S. News’ criteria.
