Loyola’s data science program earns high ranking from Fortune
Fortune ranked Loyola University Maryland’s data science program on its list of “Best Online Master’s in Data Science Programs in 2022.” Loyola was ranked No. 6 out of the 15 schools that were selected for the list.
“This new ranking is exciting and inspiring news for Loyola’s data science program,” said Bahram Roughani, Ph.D., associate dean for the Natural and Applied Sciences. “The innovative thinking of our faculty and staff and their vision and commitment to the transition to an online-only program has proven to be successful. We are delighted that our program is successfully serving students who are interested in the liberal arts, the interdisciplinary character of the program, and who are passionate about ethical issues in data science.”
This is the first ranking of online data science graduate programs by Fortune. The final ranking is made up of two components: Selectivity Score and Demand Score. Fortune calculated the Selectivity Score by examining the average undergraduate GPA of incoming students, the average number of years of work experience of those same students, and the acceptance rate for each institution. The Demand Score was measured by both the total enrollment size of the program, and the number of applicants for the most recent year. Read more about the methodology on Fortune’s website.
Loyola’s online M.S. in Data Science offers two possible specializations that may be completed in 31 or 34 credits. All students complete the data science core courses, which include courses in statistics, business, and computer science. A student can also take three courses and earn a micro-credential in analytics or data science.
