Loyola students win Gilman Scholarships from U.S. Department of State
Loyola University Maryland students have been awarded scholarships from the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. This highly competitive scholarship helps American students offset the costs of studying or interning abroad.
- Siang Par, ’27, is a biology and psychology double major with a minor in theology who plans to attend medical school after Loyola. Par, who is from Frederick, Maryland, will study in Newcastle, United Kingdom, this fall.
- San Cho, ’27, a marketing major with a studio arts minor, plans to study in Thailand this fall. Cho is from Clarksburg, Maryland.
- Breana Stith, ’26, is a biohealth major with a concentration in biotech and pharma. Stith, who is from Marlton, New Jersey, will study in Denmark this fall.
Additionally, Gommy Okoro, ’26, a data science major, studied in Cape Town, South Africa, this spring.
“Loyola students learn that leadership and service to the world are intimately connected,” shared Terre Ryan, Ph.D., Loyola’s director of national fellowships. “It’s an honor that the Gilman Program recognizes our students’ outstanding potential.”
The mission of the Gilman Program is to develop a generation of future American leaders with the career skills and international networks to advance U.S. national security and economic prosperity.
