Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management introduced the Applied Artificial Intelligence Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, which prepares students with practical AI, machine learning, and business strategy skills.

“We’re excited to begin offering this new certificate, as it reinforces the multiple pathways to graduate degree completion as well as reflects our consistent commitment to delivering a relevant curriculum,” said Mary Ann Scully, MBA ’79, dean of Loyola’s Sellinger School. “We have committed to integrating AI education as a critically important complement to Sellinger’s business curriculum.”

The AI certificate can be completed alone or combined with additional coursework as part of Loyola’s Stackable MBA program. The first and only program of its kind in Baltimore, the Stackable MBA allows students to customize their education through a pathway of certificates and courses that combine into a full MBA degree.

“We teach students how to use AI as an increasingly common tool in the workplace while integrating with and emphasizing the durable skills of critical and analytical thinking, including understanding the data and assumptions behind AI systems, and making ethical, responsible decisions in tool utilization. That unique combination, reflective of a grounding in the Jesuit liberal arts tradition, best prepares our graduates to harness AI in ways that effectively create value while serving people, communities, and the integrity of organizations,” Scully said.

In addition to the new AI certificate, Loyola’s Information Systems and Data Analytics program, which offers a major and minor, recently expanded its name to Information Systems, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence for Business. The new name reflects the current scope of the program, which includes hands-on experiences in using AI to solve real-world problems and practical coursework that builds both technical and strategic fluency in AI.

Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management in Baltimore delivers an internationally recognized Jesuit business education. Recognized for its scholarship, ethical leadership, and tradition of excellence, the Sellinger School delivers 12 fields of study as well as full-time, part-time, fully online, and hybrid MBA and Master of Accounting programs.
