Loyola’s Govans Farmers Market returns for 15th season

Loyola University Maryland’s York Road Initiative will host the 15th season of the Govans Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. The season opens with a special Market Kickoff on June 3, 2026, and continues through Nov. 4, 2026. The market is located in the parking lot at 5104 York Road in Baltimore. Enter through the side entrance on Notre Dame Lane.
“We are excited for season 15! The Govans Farmers Market has remained a mission-based market with community at its core. We hope people come, shop, and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors,” said Gia Grier McGinnis, DrPH., executive director of neighborhood resilience and community engagement.
The Market Kickoff event will feature music from violinist and vocalist Noah Stone, children’s activities, and local vendors. Stone is the music director at Church of the Guardian Angel and violinist for the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and SLATE Project.
Vendors for the Market Kickoff include:
- Stoecker Farms

Located near Loyola’s Evergreen campus, the Govans Farmers Market provides the York Road community of north Baltimore with affordable, fresh, local produce. Market selections include returning favorites serving fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, cold crabs and seafood, and baked goods.
The site also features the Govans Community Fridge, which started in June 2022. The fridge, which serves both community residents and Loyola students, provides resources including fresh produce, hygiene products, and water. The fridge operates on “take what you need, share what you can” basis. Anyone is welcome to donate or take from the fridge.
Home of the farmers market and York Road Initiative, Loyola’s property at 5104 York Road has been renovated to create a community hub for the University’s community development effort along York Road. The renovations also strengthen Loyola’s sustainability and food equity efforts on the property, including the farmers market.
