  • Class Year2019

  • DegreeB.A. Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, French

Ellie considers the Jesuit education she received at Loyola integral to helping her understand her students and clients as “complex individuals deserving of care and support that is as equally unique and complex.” She graduated in 2019 from Loyola, where she double majored in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and French. As a student, she was a member of Rendez-Vous Haiti and the American Sign Language Club; during her junior year, she studied abroad in Montpellier, France. Ellie is grateful for the opportunity to pursue a double major in a world language and Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, which afforded her a unique academic experience. “Learning a second language and living abroad in a language-based homestay gave me empathy for anyone who has difficulties communicating, whether it’s due to the challenges of learning a second language or a communication disorder.” After graduating, she attended Boston University to earn her Master of Science in Speech-Language-Pathology. Now she is completing her clinical fellowship at Sheppard Pratt School as her last step to become a fully licensed speech-language pathologist. “I am looking forward to continuing to serve students, many of whom use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to communicate.”

My professors at Loyola went out of their way to check in on students going through challenges. They invited us into their homes for study sessions and made us feel seen.
