Marianna Carlucci, Ph.D.

  • Academic Focus Psychology

Marianna Carlucci, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, aims to shine light on issues of diversity and social justice in her classroom. Dr. Carlucci, who is originally from Venezuela, moved to Miami when she was 6 years old; she has been at Loyola since 2011. She received her bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. in Psychology from Florida International University. Dr. Carlucci describes her relationship with her students as symbiotic, one in which they learn from one another: “When a student enters my classroom, they are my student for life. I am interested not only in their ability to learn the class material, but also about their growth and development as people.” She believes Loyola’s psychology department is one of a kind because of the unique Forensic Studies program, which many universities don’t offer.
