Honors and Awards
2024 Student’s Choice Award. Loyola University, MD. The A.F.F.I.R.M. Award is an acknowledgement for faculty increasing relationships
as mentors with students. Words pronounced by SGA student representative: “This professor’s
dedication goes above and beyond. She is involved with her students inside and outside
of her classroom. She works closely with campus ministry and worked hard to get Spanish
masses on our campus. She even sings in those masses and encourages her students to
attend the mass. She goes above and beyond to create a space for Latinx and Spanish
speaking students on our campus.”
2025 Teaching Faculty Summer Grant (4,000 $). Loyola University, MD. My research looks at challenges that Spanish Heritage Speakers face to maintain their
language and to pass it on to the next generation. This is a qualitative case study
with interviews and observations of one heritage Spanish speaker and her family.
