Curriculum and Program

As a graduate speech-language pathology student at Loyola, you will have distinct first- and second-year experiences. Academic classes are offered on Mondays with Tuesdays through Fridays dedicated to clinical experiences. 

Begin hands-on clinical training in your very first semester at Loyola. Take academic classes on Mondays and begin your clinical internship at the Loyola Clinical Center's Margaret A. McManus Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic located at Belvedere Square in Baltimore, Maryland and at local partner schools.

  • With intensive and individualized support from our clinical faculty, provide services in group or individual settings to clients of all ages, from infant-toddler to adult, across ASHA’s “Big Nine.”
  • Participate in an inter-professional medical simulation lab with students in nursing, occupational therapy, physician assistant, psychology, pharmacy, and other allied programs.
  • Serve the Baltimore community through screenings and other services at affiliate community sites.

With dedicated, guaranteed externship placements, experience at least two different types of settings or client populations in your off-campus externships with experienced, ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists. Expand your real-world experience, continue academic coursework, and master the clinical skills you need for postgraduate fellowship work. 

After completing the SLP master’s degree, passing the Praxis examination, and completing a Clinical Fellowship Year, graduates have fulfilled all requirements for ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).

Loyola’s M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology participates in the Communication Sciences & Disorders Central Application Service (CSDCAS).  Please submit your application and all required materials via CSDCAS by January 31.

Cost and Financial Aid

Loyola's Speech-Language Pathology graduate program charges a flat rate for each year in the program, as well as textbook charges, minimal clinical supply costs, and a software technology fee.

Merit-based scholarships are available to top-performing applicants and are awarded at the time of admission; no separate application process is required. Financial aid and graduate assistantships are also available.
