Biography

Originally from New York, Professor Beth Yashnyk earned a BFA in Printmaking from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and their MFA in Multidisciplinary Fine Art from Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work explores themes of perception, gender, sexuality, and psychology. Inspired by media and pop culture, she uses animation, sculpture, drawing, and painting to create surreal narratives and environments. Professor Yashnyk was a 2018 recipient of the Launch Artists in Baltimore award and is the Gallery Curator at Club Car Baltimore. Their work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and they are currently working on a series of short, animated films exploring their perception of their own gender identity.
