Timeline of a Noyce Scholar
Application and Acceptance
For study beginning in Summer 2026, applications submitted by February 15, 2026 will be given priority. Applications will be reviewed after this date on a rolling basis if funding is available.
Once a scholar is accepted into the MAT program, they must sign a promissory note that is an agreement stating that the scholar will serve the two-year requirement or repay the scholarship amount.
Year One - Learn
The first year consists of MAT Coursework spanning three semesters. Courses begin in the summer semester and are online with no internship. The fall semester is a combination of traditional MAT coursework and internship. The spring semester is internship heavy, and scholars likely take a single class concurrently. Scholars can find more information regarding a typical full time course sequence on the MAT program website.
Scholars must also attend the Loyola Noyce Seminar professional learning community this year.
Years Two and Three - Teach
Following graduation from the MAT program, Noyce Scholars are required to teach for two years in a federally defined high-need school. During this time scholars will receive job placement support, salary stipends, and a professional learning community with resources for STEM teaching from Loyola’s Noyce Program.
Scholars must attend the interdisciplinary STEM Summer Institute post-graduation as well as attend the Loyola Noyce Connect professional learning community during their years of teaching service.
