PRNews has ranked Loyola’s Emerging Media master’s program among 35 institutions on its Education A-List. The ranking spotlights higher education institutions who are advancing the careers of PR and communication professionals in the United States.

In selecting institutions for the list, PRNews examined how well programs prepare students for continued success in their existing jobs and along with their future career paths.

“We are very excited to be recognized by PRNews as a top graduate program serving communication professionals,” said Greg Hoplamazian, Ph.D., associate professor of communication and academic director of Loyola’s Emerging Media program. “Since the inception of our online master’s program, we have been focused on helping students learn how to integrate emerging media platforms into the work their organizations do. But perhaps more importantly we want our students to know the ethical and social challenges that accompany these new technologies so that they can be part of creating a more just world.”

The inaugural editorial list features institutions who offer fulltime, part-time, online, and hybrid programs. Other institutions who made the list include Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland.

“The Emerging Media program has been built from the start to be relevant for professionals with many years of experience looking to add digital media tools to their skillset, as well as recent graduates looking to begin their careers with advanced knowledge of social strategy and content creation,” said Hoplamazian. “We’ve seen students in our program develop social media strategies and campaigns, plan and wireframe App concepts, research crisis communication practices, conduct social network analysis, and advance their online businesses. With our new specialization in health communication, we are even more excited to have students working to be part of the solution to health disinformation and learn how to use communication technology and theory to advance public health.”
