Micah Brown

Originally from Orlando, Fla., Micah attended the University of Central Florida and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Micah relocated to Maryland in 2015 to become president of East Coast Fresh, a regional processor of fruits, vegetables, and fresh refrigerated salsas. “It had always been a desire of mine to get my MBA, and as my career continued to grow I knew I wanted to increase my acumen and better enhance my knowledge, particularly related to finance and accounting,” he says. Loyola offered everything Micah was looking for: a great reputation, a program that fit his busy schedule with a convenient location, and a school that he felt he could get involved in. “The Jesuit business education also had appeal as it fit well within my own philosophy of servant leadership, high integrity, and impact across many spectrums,” says Micah. While studying at Loyola, Micah served as a member of the Sellinger Graduate Alumni Board of Directors for the three years. “The one course that was the most impactful was the Chilean Study Tour with Nan Ellis, Ph.D., professor emerita of law and social responsibility, and Gerard Athaide, Ph.D., professor of marketing. Life-long friendships, unreal experiences, and access to organizations on an international level made this course incredibly dynamic. It was my favorite part about the master’s program at Loyola.” Micah’s advice for prospective students starting their MBA at Loyola is to get involved. “Get to know your professors and fellow students, and do more than just check in and check out during classes. I found the most valuable takeaways were the relationships I developed and the resources I now have at my disposal, thanks to going all-in.” Since graduating in 2019, Micah started his first company, Penguin Packaging Solutions, a vertically integrated packaging provider serving the food industry.
