Kelly Keane, Ph.D., senior lecturer and director of the Educational Technology program, has taught at Loyola since 2014. In her classroom, she incorporates the latest educational technology and the Jesuit mission: “The focus on experience, action, and reflection—which are three of the elements of Ignatian pedagogy—are central to the education technology program and infused in many, if not all of the program courses,” says Keane, who is originally from Philadelphia, Pa. Keane earned her bachelor’s degree in English and elementary education from Gettysburg College and taught at the elementary level before earning her master’s degree, which she received from Towson University in instructional technology. She also holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University. Keane works to understand the whole student—her students are teachers who typically work full-time and are enrolled in an online program. “Loyola’s educational technology program is online learning of the highest quality, with faculty who are experienced and qualified in their disciplines and who are also knowledgeable about and dedicated to effective online teaching,” says Keane, who tries to remain technology-free in her spare time.
