Biology Department Students Present at National Conference on Undergraduate Research

April 15, 2026

Seniors Joshua Player, Zaira Rehman, Yuri Singh, Jamie Cashour, Lauren Imasa, and Junior Shudan Jew, alongside Chemistry senior Michael Moseley and Computer Science junior David Ogunbanjo, traveled to Richmond, Virginia, for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research this April 13th-15th to present their research done at Loyola and surrounding institutions! During their trip, they were able to connect with fellow undergraduate researchers within and across disciplines. Our students explored potential post-graduate opportunities through university representatives tabling at the convention. They also explored the surrounding Richmond area, visiting James Cellar Winery, where students were able to meet the owner, Dr. Mitzi Batterson, who sat with students to explain their unique approach to the fermentation process. Overall, the three-day trip served as a great enrichment activity for the students attending. The students would like to thank the Natural and Applied Sciences and Education for Life Committee for sponsoring the trip and making it possible to attend.
