Interdisciplinary Options for English
The English Department at Loyola University Maryland offers a variety of options to discover interdisciplinary connections between English and a variety of majors and minors of study, including interdisciplinary majors, interdisciplinary minors, and a cohort-based program exploring the connection between Business and English.
Interdisciplinary Majors
Double Majors
Students sometimes double major with a social science, humanities, business, or science field to acquire additional background and skills to complement their English language and literature foundation. Explore your options with these Academic Worksheets.
Split Majors
Students can also combine English with another major, completing about six courses in each field. Popular interdisciplinary majors include English/Writing, English/Business, and English/Communication
Interdisciplinary Minors
Loyola offers 20 interdisciplinary minors that are intended to allow students to combine interest in their intellectual passions or in practical training with their majors. English department professors teach in several of these minors, including studies in African American literature, Gender, Medieval culture, Latin American and Latino literature, Film, and Asian literature.
