Minor

The environmental studies minor is an interdisciplinary program. Students who are minor in environmental studies can combine the minor with any major at Loyola accept environmental science. The minor allows students to build a unique program that best fits with their learning and career goals.

Course Requirements

Requirements for the classes of 2026, 2027, 2028:

  • Foundation Course: CH 114/ENV 114, BL 111, or BL 154
  • Capstone: A research or internship experience approved by the director of environmental science and studies. Typically completed in the senior year.

  • Electives: Five electives from a list of approved courses. See the catalogue for a complete and current list of courses and all restrictions.

  • No more than two of the five electives may come from any one department (e.g., biology, economics, history).

Only one course may count for both the Environmental Studies Minor and either a major or another minor. Only two courses may count for both the core curriculum and the Environmental Studies Minor.
