Biography
Dr. Ian Hrdlicka has performed at concerts and competitions in the United States and abroad, and is noted for his expressivity, versatility, and ability to connect with an audience. He strives to redefine how Classical guitar concerts look and sound by performing in unique venues beyond the typical concert hall and crafting programs that showcase the diverse variety of solo guitar repertoire. Dr. Hrdlicka began his musical journey playing bluegrass and jazz guitar and often draws upon these influences in his recitals. He recently earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with esteemed performer and pedagogue Julian Gray. Dr. Hrdlicka also holds a Master of Music from the University of Georgia. As an instructor, he seeks to develop students as both musicians and scholars of the guitar. Dr. Hrdlicka holds teaching posts at Gettysburg College, Loyola University Maryland, and Itawamba Community College.
