Biography
Professor Nguyên Khôi Nguyễn is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. His cartoons have been featured in The New Yorker and McSweeney’s. Professor Nguyễn is the vocalist/pianist of the jazz trio, Superior Cling, and creator of Mom’s Viet Kitchen, a cooking website that shares family recipes and the stories behind them. The Baker Prize, a Rubys Artist Grant, and an Independent Artist Award are among Professor Nguyễn’s accolades. Previously, Professor Nguyễn served as the senior video producer/editor at Science Magazine. As a digital media professor at Loyola University Maryland, he teaches video, graphics, animation, comics, and more.
Professor Nguyễn studied visual art at The Cooper Union, earned a B.A. in Music and Integrated Arts from Bard College, an M.M. in Jazz Piano from the University of Maryland, and an M.F.A. in Studio Art from Towson University. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland, with his wife and two sons.
