Loyola’s York Road Initiative to sponsor Community Mental Health & Wellness Fair on June 28

Community Mental Health & Wellness Fair, Saturday, June 28, 2025, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 5104 York Road, Baltimore, MD

Loyola’s York Road Initiative is sponsoring a Community Mental Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday June 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5104 York Road in North Baltimore. The free event is dedicated to healing, connection, and community care by bringing together local organizations, wellness practitioners, and neighbors to promote mental health and provide vital resources to those who need it most.

“This mental health fair has been 10 years in the making,” said Tee Hardy, community fellow for neighborhood resilience, who has been a resident community organizer with the University for several years and helped to organize the fair as part of her fellowship. “We are starting a movement to reshape the way our community views and applies mental health care.”

The event will feature local community partners such as the Temple of New African Thought Holistic Wellness Center and the Black Mental Health Alliance, as well as a yoga station led by the Black Male Yoga Initiative and a live DJ. Crazy Puddings, a Black-owned food truck serving banana puddings, fried fish, wings, funnel cake, and more, will also be at the event.

Guests can enjoy free cookout food from Parkhurst Dining, giveaways, interactive wellness activities such as an affirmation wall and craft stations, and mental health screenings and resources.

“This mental health fair was something Tee had envisioned and has been working on for the Govans community to amplify the importance of mental health awareness and to connect those in need with services,” shared Gia Grier-McGinnis, Dr.PH., executive director for neighborhood resilience and community engagement. “It is my hope that this is the beginning of future efforts around wellness and mental health. As we launch the community-university center at 5104 York Road, we hope to offer more events and programs like this. I am also grateful to have campus partner involvement from the Loyola Clinical Centers and look forward to future ways to connect campus and community around this issue.”

In the event of inclement weather, the fair will be moved to a backup location inside the Govans Boundary Church at 5210 York Road.
