Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business earns AACSB reaccreditation

Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management received reaccreditation for its business and accounting degree programs by the International Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools.
“AACSB sets some of the most rigorous standards in business education, and earning reaccreditation requires a deep and sustained commitment to continuous improvement over a period of years across the entire school,” said Mary Ann Scully, MBA ’79, dean of Loyola’s Sellinger School. “This achievement reflects the strength of our academic foundation and the discipline we bring to teaching, scholarship, and student support. It shows that our programs meet the highest expectations in the field.”
Only 6 percent of institutions offering business degrees worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation. Achieving accreditation is a multiyear process where schools develop and implement a plan aligned with AACSB’s accreditation standards measuring schools’ strategic management, student success, thought leadership, and societal impact.
“As a former, longtime CEO in a highly regulated industry, I have been impressed by the high expectations, the rigorous accountability, and the deep commitment of Sellinger’s faculty, administrators, and staff to this process — all in service to providing the best platform for lifelong student success,” Scully said.
Supplemental to the business accreditation, AACSB’s accounting accreditation requires schools meet additional accounting standards showing professional engagement, innovation, and impact.
“Loyola is one of only 195 institutions with separate business and accounting accreditations,” said JP Krahel, chair of accounting. “This speaks to our adherence to the highest standards of teaching and research quality and our focus on the professional, ethical, and personal development of each student as an individual. AACSB accreditation is a process of continuous improvement, and as proud I am of the department's accomplishments over the past cycle, I am equally excited to see our outcomes over the upcoming cycle.”
In other recognitions for the Sellinger School, the Professional’s MBA program, a part-time, self-paced program with a fully online option, was ranked No. 26 this year among the Best Online MBA Programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
