Equipment Available in the LUM-FCCF:
Sony SH800S Flow Cytometry Cell Sorter

  • User friendly software to control the instrument provides ease for start-up, calibration, sample run and sorting, as well as cleaning and shut down
  • SH800S is housed within a Class A2 Level II biological safety cabinet for sterile sorting and management of aerosolized samples
  • Four Lasers with detectors to analyze 6 fluorescence + 2 scatter (forward and side) characteristics simultaneously (405-, 488-, 561-, 638-nm)
  • Ability to perform sterile 2-way sorting into tubes, 8-well strips, or plates (6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, and 384-well) with cooled sample and collection chambers
  • Ability to analyze single cell characteristics from single cells or groups after sorting into plates
  • Ability to sort a wide range of cell sizes using microfluidics chips in 70-, 100-, and 130-micron sizes
  • Additional computer workstations for post-run analysis
  • Sony SH800 software is freely available for download onto any computer for post-run analysis
  • Common flow cytometry applications include measuring cell surface markers, intracellular markers, DNA content, analyzing apoptosis and cell viability among others.  Additionally, sterile sorting of cells can lead to a wide range of downstream molecular and cellular applications.
